11.12.2008 International Christmas Mixer
SPCC organized the yearly International Christmas Mixer in Hotel Radisson in Krakow. This year the students from the Swedish Filology Department from Jagiellonian University prepared Saint Lucia procession. In Scandinavian countries the Saint Lucia procession is regarded as a celebration of light. In the Julian calendar we have the longest night on December 13, later the days become longer. The tradition originated in Sweden on December 13, 1944 as a sign of ressistance against the 2. world war.
During the evening prizes from different sponsors were drawn. A known jazz band from Krakow played to the late night.

The Swedish Ambassador, H.E. Thomas Bertelman, held this afternoon a lecture on "The political and economic situation in Sweden. Economic cooperation with Poland and its perspectives for the future".
The afternoons second lecturer Governor for Malopolska Region, Jerzy Miller told in his lecture about "Plans for development of Malopolska Region and its attractiveness for foreign investors".
After these two contributions the participants discussed perspectives for regional development and for the cooperation for with Sweden and other Nordic countries.
